Basketball Recap: Excel Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Excel Christian Academy played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-36 loss at the hands of the King's Academy Knights. The Eagles were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Excel Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Kaiden Ward, who posted 17 points. The game was Ward's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead King's Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Travis Haft, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points along with six assists and three steals. Haft is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Madison, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Excel Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for King's Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-13.

Excel Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-32 win against Greenville Christian on the 1st. As for King's Academy, they will welcome Athens Christian Preparatory Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Athens Christian Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge.
