Basketball Recap: Zumbrota-Mazeppa Takes a Loss

If Zumbrota-Mazeppa was riding high fresh off their 83-58 takedown of Plainview-Elgin-Millville last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars came up short against the Goodhue Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 70-50. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 60-58.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. As for Goodhue, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa has already played their next game (against Kasson-Mantorville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Goodhue Wildcats face off against the Pine Island Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Pine Island knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Goodhue likes a good challenge.
