Football Recap: Marlboro Central Takes a Loss

Marlboro Central fell victim to Port Jervis and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Raiders 28-0. While losing is never fun, the Dukes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Raiders are ranked 33rd).

Devin Robertson threw for 63 yards on five of 17 attempts. Mateo Sajous was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

It was another big night for Dylan Fox, who rushed for 172 yards and one score while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Port Jervis. Those 172 rushing yards gave Fox a new career-high. Amato Natale was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Marlboro Central moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Port Jervis, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Marlboro Central has already played their next game, a 42-8 victory against Rondout Valley on the 17th. As for Port Jervis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 48-14 win against Saugerties on the 17th.
