Softball Recap: Sunbright Tigers vs. Oneida Indians

Sunbright extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They lost 16-4 to the Oneida Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-1 last Tuesday.

As for Oneida, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-17. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Oneida's part, Jolie Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Duncan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Oneida got a big performance out of Kennedy Shoemaker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Ashlyn Cotton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunbright will venture away from home to face off against Oakdale at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oneida, they will head out to square off against Scott at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
