Baseball Game Preview: Fairmont Senior Polar Bears vs. Grafton Bearcats

The Fairmont Senior Polar Bears will square off against the Grafton Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairmont Senior will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Fairmont Senior had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Elkins on Monday. The Polar Bears were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Tigers. The Polar Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Fairmont Senior got a massive performance out of Brock Martin, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Bigelow Trevor, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairmont Senior kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkins only managed one hit.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Grafton sidestepped Weir for a 5-4 victory.

Mason Sheme looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Grafton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Gillespie, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Grafton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-15. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for Fairmont Senior, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.

Fairmont Senior came out on top in a nail-biter against Grafton when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Polar Bears repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
