Baseball Recap: Evangelical Christian Gets the Win

Evangelical Christian's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the South Pontotoc Cougars, sneaking past 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 15, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Knox Aaron, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Terry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Evangelical Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for South Pontotoc, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Evangelical Christian will square off against McNairy Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Pontotoc, they will head out on the road to face off against Caledonia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
