Preview: Faith Christian Saints vs. Still Creek Christian Colts
Faith Christian is 0-6 against Still Creek Christian since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Faith Christian Saints will be playing in front of their home fans against the Still Creek Christian Colts at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Faith Christian managed to keep up with True North until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Faith Christian ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-51 walloping at the hands of True North. Faith Christian has not had much luck with True North recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dylan Martinez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 43.1% of Faith Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Galvan, who scored 16 points.
Still Creek Christian suffered their biggest loss since January 8th on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 66-42 defeat at the hands of Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy. Still Creek Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Still Creek Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Walton, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Jeremy Reed who scored six points along with 11 rebounds. Walton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.
Even though they lost, Still Creek Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Faith Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Still Creek Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Faith Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Still Creek Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Faith Christian was taken down by Still Creek Christian 92-48 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Faith Christian was down 59-29.
