Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Red Devils vs. Fairfield Central Griffins

The Liberty Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Fairfield Central Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty has given up an average of 53.8 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Liberty's win against Brashier Middle College Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 72-69 victory over the Bengal on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bengal: they've now won five in a row.

It was another big night for Kendrick Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Ethan Moses was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Liberty was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 19-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Fairfield Central over Columbia in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Griffins blew the Capitals out of the water with a 64-37 final score. The Griffins pushed the score to 48-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Capitals had little chance of recovering from.

Liberty's record now sits at 20-6. As for Fairfield Central, their record is now 13-9.

Liberty skirted past Fairfield Central 43-41 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Griffins' Rashawn Brown, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 21 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Red Devils still be able to contain Brown? There's only one way to find out.
