Softball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs

The Carson Senators will venture away from home to square off against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Galena, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Carson was ranked 20th). The Senators came out on top in a nail-biter against the Grizzlies on Saturday, sneaking past 15-13. The win was some much needed relief for the Senators as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sofia Morrison was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Rhys Branham was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of McQueen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since March 11th.

Damonte Ranch saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Glass, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Sophia Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Damonte Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Carson, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.

Carson came out on top in a nail-biter against Damonte Ranch in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
