Basketball Recap: Colonial Heights Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Colonial Heights can now relate to. They were beaten by the Mechanicsville Mustangs 65-22 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colonials of the 80-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2021.

Mechanicsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madeline Frantz led the charge by going 6-for-15 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carys Khan, who posted nine points along with seven steals and five assists.

Colonial Heights has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. Mechanicsville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mechanicsville beat Colonial Heights by a score of 65-22 on Monday.
