Softball Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Troy Christian Eagles

The Springfield Wildcats will face off against the Troy Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Springfield has three straight wins, Troy Christian has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Springfield earned a 7-4 victory over Urbana.

Leeauna Rardon made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jazzdyn Frock was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Savanna Vela, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Troy Christian's offense. They lost 10-0 to Covington on Tuesday.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Troy Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
