Preview: Mize Bulldogs vs. Richton Rebels
The Mize Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Richton Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mize has four straight wins, Richton has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mize put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Forrest 43-13 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-6.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mize to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamiyon Gray, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown. Gray was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hancock, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Richton lost to Collins at home by a decisive 28-12 margin on Friday.
Mize's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points per game. As for Richton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Mize was dealt a bruising 49-14 loss at the hands of Richton when the teams last played back in November of 2018. Can Mize avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
