Volleyball Recap: American Fork's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

American Fork had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Pleasant Grove Vikings on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Cavemen: when they faced off against the Vikings back in April, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

American Fork was especially dominant in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-12.

Leading American Fork to victory were Jackson Mecham and Jarett Santiago. Mecham had 12 digs and three aces, while Santiago had 14 digs and one block. Santiago is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 16 or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Joao Machado also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: American Fork was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

American Fork's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 7-14. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.

American Fork will square off against Lehi at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant Grove, they will challenge Bountiful at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The RedHawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
