Baseball Recap: Fort Jennings Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Fort Jennings barely beat Jefferson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Musketeers blew past the Wildcats 10-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Musketeers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Owen Calvelage, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Fort Jennings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Luke Diller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fort Jennings has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Looking ahead, Fort Jennings will host Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Musketeers' favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Rockets have been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road. As for Jefferson, they will venture away from home to square off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
