Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Comes Up Short

Archbishop Mitty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 14-3 to the Junipero Serra Padres. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Monarchs of the 13-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Archbishop Mitty got a good showing from Jonah Ferrell, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those zero earned runs gave Ferrell a new career-low.

At the plate, Archbishop Mitty saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Munoz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Archbishop Mitty's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Junipero Serra, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2.

Coming up, Archbishop Mitty will face off against Granite Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games the Grizzlies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Junipero Serra, they will square off against Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Padres surely won't give up without a fight.
