Football Game Preview: Escalon Cougars vs. Hughson Huskies

The Escalon Cougars will challenge the Hughson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hughson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Escalon, who comes in off a win.

Escalon took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 27-9 win over Hilmar. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.

It was another big night for Logan Huebner, who threw for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one TD. What's more, he racked up 138.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dylan Ball, who rushed for 67 yards on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Hughson came up short against Ripon Christian on Friday and fell 21-14. The contest marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The win got Escalon back to even at 3-3. As for Hughson, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Escalon couldn't quite finish off Hughson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 24-21. Thankfully for the Cougars, Robert Mcdaniel (who threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
