Basketball Recap: Ikeena Spruill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fluvanna County over Louisa County

Fluvanna County lost against Louisa County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fluvanna County Flying Flucos took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Louisa County Lions. The Flying Flucos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fluvanna County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ikeena Spruill, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Sienna Brennan was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

Leading Louisa County to victory were Peyton Brady and Taylor Yeatts. Brady shot 4-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards, while Yeatts almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. Brady has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amara Comfort, who earned four points and 11 boards.

Fluvanna County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Louisa County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Fluvanna County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-48 loss against Wilson Memorial on the 27th. As for Louisa County, they will square off against Albemarle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Louisa County is facing Albemarle at the right time seeing as Albemarle is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
