Basketball Recap: Creighton Comes Up Short

Creighton played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 56-23 loss at the hands of the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-2.

Brayden Lammers was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards for Hartington-Newcastle. Another player making a difference was Austin Sudbeck, who posted nine points.

Creighton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Creighton will square off against Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Creighton likes a good challenge. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will host Walthill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hartington-Newcastle is facing Walthill at the right time seeing as Walthill is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
