Basketball Game Preview: Halstead Dragons vs. Hillsboro Trojans

Halstead is 0-10 against Hillsboro since February of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Halstead Dragons will challenge the Hillsboro Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Halstead came up short against Hesston and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Swathers are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Hillsboro won against Trinity Academy on Monday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Hillsboro breezed by Larned to the tune of 54-24. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans who have now won three games in a row.

Hillsboro's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-6-1. As for Halstead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Halstead came up short against Hillsboro in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 77-66. Can Halstead avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
