Baseball Recap: Manheim Central Gets the Win

Manheim Central proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Eastern Lebanon County Raiders. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Chase Book and Cody Hess did most of the damage at the plate: Book went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Hess scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Manheim Central is undefeated when Hess posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Garber, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Manheim Central now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Eastern Lebanon County, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Manheim Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Garden Spot at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eastern Lebanon County will face off against rival Octorara Area at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
