Benton has gone a perfect 8-0 against Vienna recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rangers will head out to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Vienna took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Benton, who comes in off a win.
Benton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pope County as they made off with a 16-6 win. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Avery Thomas (2027) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Thomas (2027) was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Jaycee Webb (2027) and Marli Klus (2025) did most of the damage at the plate: Webb (2027) got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Klus (2025) went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Webb (2027) is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Amelia Owens was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Benton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Vienna started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Massac County. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Tuesday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Patriots since on Tuesday.
Alli Vinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Rayonna Ridley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anniston Steinmann, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Vienna has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Benton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Benton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .466. However, it's not like Vienna struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Benton skirted past Vienna 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
