Football Game Preview: Winfield Generals vs. Princeton Tigers

The Winfield Generals are taking a road trip to take on the Princeton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Winfield 12.2, Princeton 11.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Winfield is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Magoffin County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Generals blew the Hornets out of the water with a 43-0 final score. The Generals pushed the score to 37-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gannon Boggs, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Braxton Adkins was another key rusher, rushing for 60 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Winfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Winfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brock Graziani, Aiden Tate, and Levi Craigo picked up one apiece. Winfield received some extra help from Cristian Cruz, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Princeton hadn't done well against Graham recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers strolled past the G-Men with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. The Tigers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Winfield's record is now 3-1. As for Princeton, their record now sits at 4-0.

Winfield was dealt a bruising 55-28 loss at the hands of Princeton when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Generals were down 35-14.
