Recap: Anderson Cubs vs. Central Valley Falcons
The Anderson Cubs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 25-12 to Central Valley. Anderson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Central Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Anderson still got an impressive performance from Gavin Lockhart, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Lockhart's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Diego Recio was his usual excellent self, rushing for 161 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Recio is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Vanpal, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Anderson's defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.8 points per game. As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson will take on West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Valley, they will be playing at home against Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
