Softball Recap: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Bruce Trojans        
        
		
            
 Calhoun City had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Bruce Trojans out  6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Calhoun City also won the last time the pair played  last Thursday.
  Aimee Buckley and  Madison Buckley made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Buckley   pitched  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Buckley   pitched five innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   four  hits (she also only allowed one  walk). At the plate,  Buckley  scored a  run while going 3-for-3, while  Buckley  went 2-for-4 with three  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Brentley Parker was  excellent,  going 3-for-3 with two  RBI.
 Calhoun City pushed their record up to 11-4-2 with that  win, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.2 runs per game. As for Bruce, their loss  ended  an  eight-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 14-6-1.
 Coincidentally, Calhoun City and Bruce will both be playing Vardaman the next time they take the field. Calhoun City will head out to face Vardaman at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday, while Bruce will play them later in the day, at TBD.
