Baseball Recap: Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Comes Up Short

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic dropped their record down to 11-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 10-3 to the St. Joseph's Prep Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Friars/Pandas have suffered since March 26th.

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic got a good showing from Danny Buckton, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those zero earned runs gave Buckton a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Redding, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for St. Joseph's Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8. Ten seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On St. Joseph's Prep's side, Robby Grasso was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The Hawks are 4-1 when Grasso posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Patrick Vezza was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic will face off against Radnor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raptors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Friars/Pandas' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph's Prep, they will challenge Episcopal Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
