The Lawrence Upper Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 32-26 defeat to they. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Ridge Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jade Blade, who scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blade has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Cunningham, who scored five points.

Lawrence Upper's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lake Ridge Academy, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence Upper will take on First Baptist Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Ridge Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Horizon Science Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 5th.
