Baseball Game Preview: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. Jensen Beach Falcons

The Benjamin Buccaneers will take on the Jensen Beach Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benjamin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Benjamin took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Sports Leadership & Management a 33-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Buccaneers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Myles Reid was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Cohen Roach, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Benjamin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Jensen Beach fell victim to Cardinal Newman and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to the Crusaders.

Jensen Beach saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Polhemus, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Polhemus hit this season.

Benjamin now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Jensen Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Jensen Beach's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Benjamin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Jensen Beach, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Benjamin's hitters?
