Soccer Game Preview: Westlake vs. Del Valle

The Westlake Chaparrals will venture away from home to face off against the Del Valle Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westlake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.4 goals per game this season.

Westlake took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Lake Travis onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chaparrals in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.

Westlake's one-goal win came courtesy of Dylan Holm, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Del Valle challenged Dripping Springs on Friday. Del Valle had just enough and edged Dripping Springs out 4-3.

Westlake pushed their record up to 7-4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Del Valle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1.

Westlake beat Del Valle 2-0 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westlake since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
