High school baseball: Walker Martin of Colorado keeps hold on top spot on national home run leaderboard

Senior Arkansas commit has 18 home runs for undefeated Colorado squad.

Walker Martin of Eaton (Colo.) leads high school baseball nationally with 18 home runs according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. The senior has led the Reds to a 23-0 record as they get set to begin the playoffs. The future Arkansas Razorback blasted a home run in nine straight games during one stretch this season and is hitting .627 with 31 extra-base hits.

Junior Bailey Thorne of Calvary Christian (Columbus, Ga.) and senior Luke Stevenson of Wake Forest (N.C.) are tied for second in the country with 16 home runs.

Thorne ended the season with a home run in seven straight games and he did it all for the Knights this season hitting .575 with 65 RBI. On the mound he went 6-2 with a 2.38 ERA and struck out 88 batters over 50 innings.

Stevenson is headed to North Carolina next year and his team is in the fourth round of the playoffs. The senior hit .554 and had five multi-home run games for Cougars. Through the squad’s first three playoff games, Stevenson has hit five bombs.
