The Verdugo Hills Dons will head out on the road to take on the Arleta Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Verdugo Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Verdugo Hills fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kennedy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Cougars by a score of 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Golden Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Madesyn Meadows put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Meadows was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meadows wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Karlina Ortiz, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Chavez hit Arleta with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 8-5 to the Eagles.

ADRIANA VASQUEZ DURAN was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Verdugo Hills now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Arleta, their record now sits at 7-13.

Verdugo Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Arleta when the teams last played on April 10th, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
