Baseball Recap: Milton Comes Up Short

Milton suffered their closest defeat since May 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Beaver Dam Golden Beavers by a score of 3-1. The Red Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Trey Jones was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jake Cummins was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Milton's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Beaver Dam, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

While Milton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
