Manteno had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 7-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Nolan Canfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brady Hespen was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Manteno's victory bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-15.

Manteno and Bradley-Bourbonnais could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 163rd) will meet St. Laurence (ranked third) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Bradley-Bourbonnais will take on Lincoln-Way Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (80 vs. 16).
