Softball Game Preview: Hendersonville Commandos vs. Beech Buccaneers

Hendersonville is 0-10 against Beech since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. Hendersonville will be playing in front of their home fans against Beech at 6:00 p.m. Hendersonville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Beech's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hendersonville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Gallatin on Tuesday as Hendersonville made off with a 19-8 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lacey Toth was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Tatum Parman, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Hendersonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Beech posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Springfield. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won three in a row.

Beech's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Hendersonville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hendersonville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Beech struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Hendersonville suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Beech in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Hendersonville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
