Volleyball Recap: Wando Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wando waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the James Island Trojans as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Wando took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-14, 25-8.

Wando's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xander Gilbert led the charge by getting ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Gilbert has posted over his last ten contests. Sam Treptow also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Wando's victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1. As for James Island, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wando will face off against Cane Bay at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for James Island, they will challenge Fort Dorchester at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
