Baseball Recap: Southern Lee Falls Short of Southern Nash in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Southern Lee can now relate to. They fell just short of the Southern Nash Firebirds by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered since March 18th.

Christian Cox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Southern Lee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Stephens, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Southern Lee dropped their record down to 15-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Southern Nash, their victory bumped their record up to 14-12.

Southern Lee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Nash, they will square off against South Brunswick on Friday.
