Football Game Preview: Petrolia Pirates vs. Quanah Indians

The Petrolia Pirates will take on the Quanah Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Petrolia is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Windthorst just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Trojans and fell 64-22. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Trojans are ranked 251st).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Greyson Elledge, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one score.incredibly, Elledge got all that yardage with just one huge grab

Meanwhile, Quanah came up short against Clarendon on Friday and fell 44-36.

Petrolia's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Quanah, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Everything came up roses for Petrolia against Quanah in their previous meeting back in September, as the team secured a 56-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
