Baseball Game Preview: Seneca Indians vs. Weston Silver Eagles

Seneca and Weston are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Indians will challenge the Silver Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Seneca will be looking to extend their current 17-game winning streak.

Seneca can't be too worried about heading out to take on Weston: they just beat Westby at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Indians never let the Norsemen get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Friday.

The result came thanks to Kaden Roberts's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gage Wall was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Weston unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-3 to Ithaca.

Brady Westphal was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Seneca's win was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Weston, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seneca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Weston struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
