Matoaca proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Hopewell Blue Devils 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in April.

Matoaca has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Hopewell, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4-2.

Matoaca wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 4-1 victory against Prince George on the 20th. As for Hopewell, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Thomas Dale on the 21st.
