Basketball Recap: Providence Cristo Rey Takes a Loss

Providence Cristo Rey suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Covenant Christian Warriors 80-31. The Wolves were down 68-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Cason Soots was his usual excellent self, going 12 for 22 en route to 33 points and seven steals for Covenant Christian. The dominant performance gave Soots a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Crane, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Providence Cristo Rey's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Covenant Christian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

Providence Cristo Rey will take on Purdue Broad Ripple at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covenant Christian, they will challenge Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Covenant Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
