Baseball Game Preview: Desert Hills Thunder vs. Pine View Panthers

For the second straight game, Desert Hills will face off against Pine View. Desert Hills will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Pine View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Desert Hills will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Desert Hills is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Pine View, who was ranked 19th at the time (Desert Hills was ranked second). Desert Hills put the hurt on Pine View with a sharp 12-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Thunder have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaxton Tolman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Jace Fillmore was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Roah Wall was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Desert Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Desert Hills' victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3-1.

Both Desert Hills and Pine View just can't seem to miss. Desert Hills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Pine View struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits.
