Baseball Recap: Lomira Starts off Right with Win over Winneconne

Lomira gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They never let the Winneconne Wolves get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 12-1 victory the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2018.

Dalton Zingsheim was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kolton Wagoner, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brody Luedtke, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Winneconne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lomira will square off against Slinger at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winneconne, they will venture away from home to challenge Oshkosh North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
