Basketball Recap: King Crusaders vs. East Lansing Trojans
After flying high against Douglass on Friday, King came back down to earth. The Crusaders were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 41-40 to the East Lansing Trojans. If the Crusaders were looking for revenge after losing 60-41 to the Trojans when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Lansing to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelvin (KJ) Torbert, Jr., who posted 13 points and six boards. Torbert, Jr. has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kingston (KT) Thomas, who shot 58% from the field on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.
King's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East Lansing, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
King has already played their next contest (against Cass Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for East Lansing, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-44 victory against Grand Ledge on the 16th.
