Basketball Recap: Masterman Skates Past South Philadelphia with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Masterman over South Philadelphia in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Masterman blew South Philadelphia out of the water with a 54-21 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Masterman had established a 26-point advantage.

Masterman had a senior duo take command as Demetrius Gallier Howard went 7-for-14 to rack up 14 points and four steals and Raj Chaudhury dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony McCloud, who posted eight points.

The win got Masterman back to even at 1-1. As for South Philadelphia, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Masterman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-67 loss against Penn Treaty on the 9th. As for South Philadelphia, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on TECH Freire Charter at 3:15 p.m. on the 16th.
