Preview: McCormick Chiefs vs. Ware Shoals Hornets
McCormick has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Ware Shoals Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Back in December of 2023, McCormick came up short against Lincoln County and fell 41-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McCormick has scored all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Ware Shoals, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-28 loss to Calhoun Falls Charter on Wednesday. Ware Shoals has struggled against Calhoun Falls Charter recently, as their game on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
McCormick's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Ware Shoals, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for McCormick against Ware Shoals when the teams last played back in January of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-23 victory. Does McCormick have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ware Shoals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
