Softball Recap: Prospect Mountain Drops Season-High Score on Newfound Regional

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prospect Mountain). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Newfound Regional Bears a 28-0 shutout on Thursday. The Timberwolves haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alexis Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tori Christie was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Kylie Guptill was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Prospect Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.

Prospect Mountain's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Newfound Regional, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
