Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Stamford

Stamford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cheshire Rams by a score of 7-4. This was payback for the Black Knights, who suffered a 1-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Noe Mercedes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mercedes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Jack Gibson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Avery Cromwell was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Travis Fuchs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Stamford now has a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Stamford will take on Weston at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Cheshire, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Foran at 4:15 p.m.
