It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Myrtle had no problem doing just that  on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  4-3  victory over the Stringer Red Devils. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by  just one  run.
 Brooklyn Streich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Mary Ella Mayer, who  went 2-for-3 with two  doubles and two  RBI. That's the most  doubles  she has posted since back in March.
Myrtle has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Stringer, they moved to 25-4-2 with that  loss, which also ended their 18-game winning streak.
Myrtle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Devils: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday.
