Soccer Game Preview: Coldwater vs. Pennfield

The Coldwater Cardinals will challenge the Pennfield Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Coldwater is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Saturday, they were much more limited against Western on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Coldwater can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Western are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, Pennfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 5-0 to Marshall.

Coldwater's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Pennfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Coldwater took their victory against Pennfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 5-2 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
