Basketball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Columbus Catholic Dons and fell 64-28. The Fighting Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Dons from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Columbus Catholic, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newman has already played their next match (against Rib Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Columbus Catholic will challenge Colby at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
