Volleyball Recap: Jennings County Comes Up Short

Jennings County came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Floyd Central Highlanders, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-20.

Kaydence Lowman paced Jennings County's offense, picking up ten kills. Lowman were helped by Madelyn Maschino and Paige Hack, who contributed 11 assists each.

Leading Floyd Central to victory were Eva Casteel and Lillie Furmall. Casteel had eight digs and three aces, while Furmall hit 75% for six kills and 35 assists and seven digs. The last time Furmall's hitting percentage was this high was over her last six contests.

Jennings County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 16 of their last 18 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for Floyd Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Jennings County will face off against NorthWood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Floyd Central, they will be taking part in a tournament against Mt. Vernon at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
